About the Event:
“What do you do?”
Why is the first question we always ask the people we meet, “What do you do?”
How does the job we do affect how we value ourselves and connect with others?
Is there other language we can invent to better talk about the lives we create?
Join playwrights Kate Marple and Melissa Bergstrom for an evening of conversation and connection as they share excerpts from their documentary play Big Work, and facilitate a post reading workshop aimed at exploring the complex role that work plays in our lives.
Based on interviews with 40 real people across the United States, Big Work is a modern day meditation on the American Dream. Through the stories of everyday people, the play brings to life questions at the heart of what it means to be human.
· What matters most to me?
· How do I balance all the pieces of my life?
· What do I want to leave behind?
Come for an evening that harnesses the power of performance and the freedom that comes with owning and sharing your own story. For more on Kate and Melissa's work, visit: http://www.perpetualvisitorstheatre.org/
