Welcome to Workbar Salem
Salem may be known to out-of-towners as spooky central, but locals know Salem as a hip cultural hotspot with a thriving bar and restaurant scene, quick and easy city access, and proximity to some of New England’s most picturesque waterfronts.
These are the points that have drawn the attention of so many former Bostonians who were ready to leave the busy city but weren’t willing to compromise on walkability, activity, and historic charm. Located in the heart of the historic Downtown Salem District, Workbar Salem offers views of the city’s quintessential federal-style architecture and at-your-doorstep access to the best local dining.
Inside, Workbar Salem has the perfect workspace to meet the needs of every kind of work, from the collaborative cafe and shared desk areas, to noise-free study space, bookable meeting rooms equipped with video conferencing equipment like Owls and Airtame, walk-in phone booths, and more. Coworking members can tap into their productivity in any of our meticulously designed coworking neighborhoods, while those looking for privacy can opt for enterprise suites or private offices. And while Workbar Salem means business, the quirky community that comes together in a unique city like Salem means the general spirit of the area is that of a lighthearted place that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Sure, the commuter rail can get you to North Station in less than 40 minutes, and the ferry can get you to Longwharf in under an hour, but with so much going on in Salem, why would you want to leave?
The historic, quirky, and occasionally kitschy charm that draws visitors to Salem also draws the kinds of fun-loving folks who know how to have a good time, so it makes sense that Salem’s historic district is brimming with cafes, sandwich shops, restaurants, and bars.
Familiar names like Life Alive Organic Cafe and Dunkin’ are as close as you’ll get to chains within walking distance — locally-owned is much more downtown Salem’s thing — but a quick drive will get you to places like Trader Joe’s, Target, CVS, and the Northshore Mall in less than 10 minutes. And if work or life does require you to get yourself in to the city or over to the airport, the drive is less than 35 minutes without traffic.

Our Workbar Salem Community
Friendly people looking for the best of both downtown and the ‘burbs
“Salem might be a suburb of Boston, but it's a standalone city in its own right, and the Workbar Salem community reflects that. The space has a very downtown feel given that we’re right in the heart of Salem’s historic shopping and dining area. The folks who come here are just as social as the folks you’d find in a downtown HQ — they love meeting friends for mid-day lunch and coffee, or post-work dinner and drinks — but they have more of that small-town, willing to talk to strangers friendliness that can be hard to find in a bigger city. So many people find new friends at Workbar Salem, not just among their coworkers but in people they just happen to see every day in the kitchen and the cafe or on the deck. And it doesn’t seem to be that “we have to like each other because we work together” kind of superficial friendship. They genuinely seem to like each other and find an authentic sense of community here.”
