Workbar Arlington All Grown Up

Younger siblings can often act tender and adorable in order to win attention and approval, but the newest addition to the Workbar family is different. Turning birth order theory on its head, Workbar Arlington has quickly   become  the town’s coworking nexus.

In the two short months since the official ribbon-cutting, the growing membership numbers of Workbar Arlington tell an impressive story. “We already have seventy members, and six joined just last week!” said Carol Costello, the location’s proud Space and Community Manager. “All the private offices are occupied, too, except for one.”

Alan Wheelock schools the Arlington Chamber of Commerce on negotiation in our first morning event at Workbar Arlington. All Workbar locations offer educational, social, professional, and networking events for members (and the public), and Workbar Arlington is no exception. Arlington Entrepreneurs and the Chamber of Commerce have hosted successful events here, and the calendar is filling up for the Spring.

One coworker quipped that Workbar was like “being surrounded by colleagues who all work for different companies.” Certainly, collaboration is woven into the idea of shared office space and Costello reports, “We have two consulting firms that are helping each other and two videographers working together.”

Workbar Arlington donated a membership to the Dallin Elementary School’s silent auction on April 8th, and has been working closely with Ted Fields, the town’s Economic Development Planner.

Since the busy lives of the Arlington members do not always allow for evening happy hours, Costello said she has plans in the works for luncheons and activities during business hours. And that sounds like a mature thing to do.
